Phil Hallohan won the pro-pin and then with the winnings shouted the bar, as most winners have done, but this time it was with bottles of Moet and Chandon champagne - much appreciated. Phil knows some of our members and his home club is NSW. At the presentation he recited a folk poem 'Hallohan' which dealt with "drought, flood, farmers and Hallohan" . |
Bowral Team 1 had a good win against St. Georges Basin at Kiama on Sunday, 4/2. Competition was hot with Don Barker and Alex Mulholland the standouts. Even after the win we were reliant upon Wollongong beating Jamberoo, which did not happen. Unfortunately we will not make the finals however it has been a gallant effort and all players should hold their heads high. Our last game is at Jamberoo on Sunday 15/03/15 against Kiama with a 10.30am start. Team is Alex Mulholland, Ashley Southon, David McGinnes, Don Barker, Robert Eriksson and myself. Go Bowral 11 Cheers Paul Carroll | Bowral Team 2 went down today 3.5/2,5 against Shoalhaven Heads at Bowral. It was a very tightly contested affair coming down to the last putts on the 18th hole in the last match. Dave Burgess lost 1 up Pascal Timores lost 3/2 Alan Turpie lost 4/3 David Mathers won 4/3 Terry Downing squared Bruce Franknland won 6/4 However, the other 2 leading teams in our division, Highlands and Vincentia, also lost. So, with one round to go, 5 of the 6 teams in our division sit on 4 points and the other on 2. It is highly likely that it will come down to a countback on individual matches won and on this score (subject to confirmation tomorrow) I have us on top with 14 wins from Highlands and Shoalhaven Heads both on 13. So, we have it all to play for at Vincentia on 15 March where we play Vincentia. I received many complimentary comments about the course (thank you Damien) and the organisation on the day (thank you Paul Carroll for you assistance and Jim on the barbecue). David Boyd |
