The Arthur Brassey Event has been completed.
John McGuire and Alec Dietsch progressed through their respective draws to set up a very competitive final. Sunday presented the finalists with fine weather and a stiffening breeze, and the result was in the balance right up to the 15th hole. Despite a fantastic chip-in on the 13th, John found himself fighting hard but down by 2 holes starting the 16th. Each player had opportunities on the 16th but left the green with a half, and the match lay Dormie.
Both players drove off the 17th tee safely, but an excellent 2nd and a chip to 40cm gave Alec the hole and the win 3 and 2. The audience, which followed the players throughout, were treated to an afternoon of excellent Match play competition, worthy of a final. Congratulations to the winner, Alec Dietsch.
J W Draper. Handicap foursomes matchplay knockout. The sign up sheet will be on the clipboard on the front of the pro-shop desk as of this Wednesday 1st May. Entries close Wednesday 15th May. The draw will be published by the following day.

We have a very hard working greens staff who have been delivering the course in a fantastic condition day after day. BUT, we also are responsible for the state of the course as we play. We've had considerable traffic over the course during this past 4 weeks of fabulous Autumn weather. This has taken a toll on the fairways and greens. Our feathered friends are also having an impact. Could I please ask everyone to fill divots as you progress down each fairway (for those of you fortunate enough to be on the fairway, hehe). There is an ample supply of sand at each tee box for re-filling. The greens also need attention. Fix your pitch mark and at least one other on each green and we will be seeing the effects very quickly. I've spoken with the course superintendent and he is happy for the bird holes on the greens to be filled with sand.
Perhaps a comment about re-filling your sand container by someone in the group will ping the memory.
Player... "Do you think I can reach the green with my 5 iron?"
Caddie... "Eventually..."
Thats it from me, big edition, but plenty happening. Go enjoy your golf.
