The course is open. Better weather on the way also. The delayed events, The Ted Box Medal of Medals and the Peter Tait Trophy will be played next Saturday. The event setup on the computer for on-line bookings will be changed this morning to reflect the new schedule 2014 Franklin Templeton Shootout Similar to the bunker lip on our 7th hole - now we know how to play it. ![]() December's not finished and already it is the wettest on record A rules question. On Saturday, in the Franklin Templeton Shootout. Ian Pouter and Billy Horschel both found themselves in a bunker, an iro shot from the green. They claimed relief from the temporary immovable obstruction - a camera tower which had been erected for the event. As club players we wouldn't come across this rule in action when we play on the course normally. What the rule allows is , among other things, is relief from the the temporary immovable obstruction from the intended line of play. One of the options available to the player, is to drop clear of the "line of play" at a position that is the nearest point of relief. They had called a rules official and it was interesting to see that Billy Horschel, who must well know the rules, wanted a drop to a position on the left hand side which would allow him a straight line of play to the green. He expressed obvious disappointment when the rules official pointed out to him that the nearest point of relief from the temporary, removal obstruction, was in fact to the right which would have meant he would have the tree to navigate so he didn't try for that. Both Ian Poulter and Billy Horschel elected to play their balls from where they landed in the bunker after first getting the camera dismounted from its stand. Herschel went on to birdie the hole! (Another reason that they elected to play from where their balls were, was that if they had claimed relief and taken a drop, their ball may well have ended up more embedded in the sand.) An unusual symbiotic relationship. We have heard of birds picking the ticks off rhinoceros (click here), but here we have Australia's own Kookaburra dicing with the 'claws of death' | Monthly Medal winners this year are eligible to compete for the medal of medals - Ted Box Trophy.
