Winter arrives...

31/5/2022

Winter is on its way with some strong winds which will assist in drying out the course... a little? The intermittent rain and storms is not helping.
The fire in the clubhouse on Monday was a welcome sight.

Due to the heavy course conditions the charity event for the Pop In has been reschedule to the 2nd of October.  There has been great support for this worthwhile charity event, for further information on Pop In please visit https://www.popin.org.au/

The quarter Finals are due by the 19th of June.  (Dates subject to change!!!) To view the results click on the "In Progess" button on the MiClub Home page under the Matchplay section.
Future Competitions and Events...

As previously mentioned we are playing single stableford format until the 11th of June.  We will review the condition of the course early next week to determine whether we extend the singles stableford.

I will re-post this page with updates and via email to keep our membership informed.

So keep an eye out for course updates on this page.

Dave Burgess

Course update...

26/5/2022

This weeks post is a little later than usual, I have been in the Hunter Valley catching up with family.  I can report that the Vintage Golf course is very wet as well as many other courses. While I did not play the course the driving range was saturated and it is not the lowest point of the course.

9 Hole Composite Course
As you know we have an option available to our members to play a nine hole composite course.  Matt and I have been inspecting the course to review whether we can have carts on a nine hole circuit.  Unfortunately it is not possible at this point in time but hopefully we can get to that point soon.

We will be repairing the road from the Pro-Shop to the greenskeeper shed next week in readiness.  We have 36 tonnes of road base booked.

We will keep you unto date on cart usage.

A reminder that single

Course opens Wednesday...

16/5/2022

Golf is back on as of Wednesday.  The course is still wet with surface water in those areas such as the 3rd fairway.  The clear days and wind will assist in drying out the other areas of the course.  The course looks fantastic - see the photo of the 18th hole taken this morning - but it is difficult to get the mowers on and around the course.  Matt and the team are doing their very best given the conditions.

Carts are not back on the course at this stage.  A nine hole competition on a composite course (not handicapped) is available. Please call the Pro-Shop to book.
The forecast for this week looks great and the BOM is currently forecasting the La Nina to reduce by early winter.  See to the left for details , click to enlarge.
A reminder to apply Rule 16.1e - see last weeks blog and notice boards.

Or more accurately - Recent Result (singular).
Wednesday Stableford
Well done to Terry Downing and Glen Walsh for finishing the round; Terry won with 31 points.

Upcoming Events...

Today the Match and Greens Committee decided to postpone all monthly medals and trophy events up till the June long weekend (11th June). The reasoning is that due to the course condition and no carts available, this restricts the field numbers significantly and does not allow all members to compete for these important rounds. Single Stableford will be played.

The Arthur Brassey knock out will continue on a rescheduled time table during this period.  I will contact those involved.

All monthly medals and trophy events will be rescheduled, but we will do this when we are more confident in the course conditions being suitable.  I'll use this post to keep members informed.  It will mean a busy schedule for the rest of the year. The Mi-club fixtures list has been updated to reflect the postponements.
The John Owens, JW Draper, Patron's Trophy (Foursomes Champ) and Mixed Foursomes Championship are all to be re-scheduled.

It has been an exceptionally difficult year for programming golf fixtures and needless to say we are "all over it" and are looking forward to getting back on the course and enjoying a few rounds.

Any questions please drop me a note - click here.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on the course playing golf, either playing the composite tie or all eighteen holes.

Best Regards,

Dave

Course Condition update...

9/5/2022

While today (Monday 9th) is overcast the last few days with some sunshine and more importantly a westerly wind has assisted in removing surface water from the course.  The problematic area remains the 3rd hole past the 100m post.  The area in front of the 2nd tee boxes is also very difficult to traverse.

The good news is once you're playing the 4th hole its not too bad for the remaining holes.

The course has a number of areas which can be considered "Abnormal Conditions".  These areas are where the mowers can not get on to, very wet areas where a ball will plug easily and long grass.

As such I would like to highlight Rule 16.1e which is below, this should assist in making your round more enjoyable while we battle with these conditions.

We will keep you posted on the availability of carts.

Best Regards,

Dave Burgess.
