The qualifying round for the Foursomes Championship and Patron's Trophy were played last Saturday. Alec Deitsch and Tony Hobson had an outstanding game with a gross of 80 for a net 66.5. They were the winners of this years Patron's Trophy presented, in the absence of the Captain, by David Stanley and Club Patron Brian Lamb. As is customary, Brian not only presented the Patron's Plate, he provided a gift to both players that they may remember their achievements on a personal level. At the time of posting this article I am not sure if there was a photo opportunity, however, should one be available it will be recorded in due course. The qualifiers for this years Foursomes Championship are attached with the first Round to be played by 18/03/18. Good luck to all players. Please forgive my tardiness in not acknowledging the achievements of both Warwick Keiman and Langdon Emery in winning the Jock Russell Aggregate Par Trophy on Saturday 17th February. These two gentlemen outplayed the field, to finish with an aggregate score of plus 3. A wonderful effort and very worthy winners. Their names will be inscribed on the Honour Board in recognition of their achievement. Not far behind were Russell Borne and Ian McKenzie with a very creditable effort of plus 2. Although ably supported by Ian McKenzie, Russell played his heart out achieving an individual score of Plus 6 and as he was a left hander, managed to pick up his own trophy, the Bill Chrystal Memorial Trophy for individual handicap Par for lefties. Our photos show the winners proudly displaying their prize. Congratulations from us all.
The draw for the Arthur Brassey Knock out has been completed by the Pro Shop and is attached. We have 28 entries this year and round 1 needs to be completed by Sunday 25/02/18. Several of the lucky players have got a bye in the first round which gives them a head start. It is a great competition and the "cream" will rise to the top. Good luck to all.
The Club has entered two teams into the White Horse Cup 2018 pennants competition with Don Barker the overall Co-ordinator, Alec Dietsch Captain of Bowral 2 and David Burgess Captain of Bowral 1. The competition commenced on Sunday in great conditions. Bowral 2 headed to St.Georges Basin Golf Club where they met and defeated Moss Vale 3 1/2 to 2 1/2. A great result and a great start to the competition, with the stand outs, Dennis Neale 7/6, John Mellen 5/3 and Sam Mulholland 3/2. Bowral 1 had a buy at home and hosted teams from Highlands, Russell Vale, Worrigee and Jamberoo. All players were very complimentary of the course, staff and lunch as can be seen in the attached photo. Bowral 2 results sheet attached.
