2022 Annual General Meeting

26/4/2022

Picture
The 2022 AGM was held last Thursday evening.  The board was elected with one change. Warren Ryan "retired" as Treasurer after around 8 years in the role.  Bill Hiller is the new Treasurer.  Thanks Warren and welcome Bill.
Course Update... the very wet conditions continue and while the course is open the "daily top up" of around 5 mm means that carts are not on the course. The course is monitored daily regarding carts and we will keep you posted.
Meanwhile, Chris (pictured) has found the solution to wet golf shoes - above the ankle gum boots.  What ever it takes...

One of our members sent this through during the week..."As Sam Snead once famously said – ‘Practice doesn’t make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect’. This chap seems to have got the message! "
Take a look but I recommend wearing appropriate PPE and use someone else's door if you're going to give it a go...

Course opens tomorrow - Wednesday

Course Update
Matt and the team are mowing the greens and fairways today in readiness for tomorrow's opening.  The course is gradually drying out but is still very wet in places.  Preferred lies and bunkers GUR apply. Tomorrow has a competition for the Yellow course for those who would prefer to walk nine holes rather than 18 holes.

Carts: we will continue to monitor the course condition as to when carts will be back on the course.  Hopefully we do not get too much rain tonight.

Golf Course Update... No.2....

4/4/2022

Course Open Wednesday

The course is open this Wednesday - Single Stableford for Men and Women.  Book a tee time and get a round in as the forecast for the back end of the week is looking grim.
For those of you who are interested in statistics; the course recorded 432mm of rain for March and 700mm so far this year. In addition, the whole of March was impacted due to the wet either the course was closed or when it was open there were no carts allowed.
Matt and his team have been able to get all the fairways cut and some cut twice plus the greens and surrounds. It is still very wet in sections and carts will not be available on Wednesday.

"Shoot Your Age" Competition...

Picture
The Shoot Your Age Competition for Summer 2021 was concluded last Wednesday. The winner was John Mellen who shot 4 shots under his age, a marvellous result .  John beat his age on a number of occasions over the competition.  Runner Up was Les Brooker who shot 2 strokes under his age, also a great result. Third was Harry Caust who beat his age by 1, winning on a countback ( based on age) from Clark Gibbons, who also shot 1 stroke better than his age.   Pat Donoghue and Alec Dietsch were next at 1 shot over their age but hope to improve. Long periods of wet weather and heavy ground restricted opportunities so the regulars were outstanding given the conditions.
The Shoot Your Age Winter Competition will run from 2 April until 30 September and nearly all of the Summer competitors will be starting again.  The competition is open to any Member of Bowral Golf Club who is interested in testing themselves in a different type of competition.  If you want to know more, contact Alec Dietsch. Entries will be taken up to the end of April.

Eclectic is defined as: “selecting what appears to be best.”

The Summer competition is finished, the results for the top 5 are on your right. Well done to you all.

The Winter Eclectic sign up sheet is in the Pro Shop.
Closes at the end of April.

What's coming up...

April Monthly Medal - the rain forecast keeps getting worst for the later part of this week, so we may push this MM back a little.  See how the course goes over the next few days.

John Owens Memorial Trophy
The sign up sheet is in the Pro Shop. The format is a 4BBB handicap match play. Makes it a bit interesting, so grab a partner and sign up.

Callaway Fitting Day
Diary note: Next Tuesday 12th of April - book in the Pro Shop

See you on Wednesday, it's been a while!!!
