Just a reminder that entries for this years Arthur Brassey Handicap Knockout Match Play competition close this Wednesday 01/02/17. So far we have 16 players with 32 required to ensure a complete competition. This is your chance to compete at your own level with handicaps up to 36, which gives you the chance to win this individual event against all comers, including low handicap members. Imagine a 12 handicapper giving you 24 points start. If you haven't tried match play or are daunted by the competitive nature of the event, please have a go as I am sure you will enjoy the experience. The matches are played in good spirit with help from competitors with rules and etiquette and the worst that can happen is that you get knockout in the first round. The best that can happen, you enjoy the benefits of the "Golf Gods" and end up on the pedestal. We look forward to all qualified members meeting the challenge. Please liaise with the Pro Shop who will help you with the sign up.
All members should be aware we are having our Annual Presentation of Awards night this Saturday at 7.00pm for 7.30pm . It is a black tie event, however lounge suits are acceptable dress. So far we have 54 bookings and would like to get that number to 80 if we can. Vouchers have circulated to all 2016 winners, which gives you the chance to come to the event for the cost of a couple of drinks. The feature of the event however, is the acclamation bestowed on our trophy winners and runners up and acknowledgement by members, of our 2016 champions. There are several tables with spare seats, so you are not required to fill your own table. Please book through the bar and they will take you through the seating arrangements. This is an important club event and we encourage you to take advantage of the meal vouchers which have been issued. ![]()
The Arthur Brassey Singles Handicap Knockout draw is in the Pro Shop with entries closing on Wednesday 01/02/17. The draw will be done as soon as possible there-after with the 1st and 2nd rounds to be completed by 08/03/17. As this is a handicap event, this is your chance for those members who qualify, to win a trophy.
As all members will have realised from reading of the 2017 Members Handbook and looking at the Club Calendar, many of our trophy rounds this year have been either brought forward or have been delayed to ensure they are played outside winter, in the best conditions possible. Accordingly, the qualifying round of this years men's Foursome Championship and Patrons Trophy will be played on Saturday 11th February. As this is a Championship event no other game will be included as an alternative on the day. Would all members please note that bookings are through the computer in pairs and are now open. Please contact your playing partner and arrange a suitable time to compete. You must play in two teams of two, as it is a requirement of the Conditions of Competition, copy attached and on notice boards, that there is an independent marker of your card. We encourage all members to play in the Championship, with the top 8 teams with the best scratch scores, going through to match play, with the final, 36 holes, on Sunday 2nd April 2017. The best net score will win the Patron's Trophy on the day. For those members not familiar or are nervous at the prospect of playing in this event, there is a practice round on the preceding Wednesday with an American Foursomes event. Good luck to all. ![]()
