Bowral Team 1 had a bye on Sunday and Paul Carroll provided catering and starting for the Whitehorse Cup teams from other clubs all playing at Bowral.

Bowral Team 2
lost today against Highlands at Shoalhaven Heads 4.5 to 1.5. David Boyd lost 3/2, Pascal Timores lost 4/2, Alan Turpie squared, Bob Young lost 5/4, Bruce Frankland lost 2/1, Terry Downing WON 3/1. However, against that Port Kembla were disqualified in the match with us last week for playing off incorrect handicaps, so we have lost one and won one, albeit by default. Our next fixture is on 22 Feb when we play Nowra at Highlands.
Regards, David Boyd

Something I picked up on the internet from the Bleacher Report  :-

The Masters: 10 Things They Don't Tell You About Augusta National on TV

here is an extract

"The Green Jacket came about for a very simple reason. In the tournament’s early years Augusta National members were encouraged to wear the jacket so patrons would know who to ask questions. Secondarily, when a member hosts guests in the clubhouse, the green jacket designates who gets the bill."

So the idea is not to wear a green jacket to restaurants.

Last Saturday Warren Ryan shot a net 64 which won him the 'B' Grade medal and, perhaps more importantly, the Anniversary Cup. The Cup was donated in 1964 by Sefton Cullen, President in 1953, to celebrate Australia Day.

Here are a few photos of the  bridge work on hole 1. So far there has been  8.3 cubic metres of concrete used in the construction. That is around 20 tonnes. The bridge, when finished, will have a 2.4 metre wide carriageway. The bridge will be finished during next week and the stonework facing will come later.  We expect the bridge will be in use by the end of the month, following that the old bridge will be removed.

Paul Carroll holds his certificates after completing his mandatory director training. The NSW government introduced the requirement in recent legislation for all new directors to complete successfully two courses.  ‘Director Foundation & Management Collaboration’ and ‘Finance for Club Boards’. There are exemptions for some clubs but all the current directors are registered for the course with several now having  completed them. The content of the course goes into directors responsibilities, the role of the board and the key purpose of the club among many other things. The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal conducted a survey in the NSW club industry  and produced a report. From their recommendation the government made a number of changes to the legislation and regulations and among those introduced the requirement for director training. Directors are responsible under the Corporations Act and other pieces of  Federal, State and local regulations and laws ~ there are 600  or under which a director may be personally responsible.  These include environmental laws, occupational health and safety laws, employment law, taxation law, financial reporting laws.
