Through 2023 the Match and Greens committee has been working on drafting a Course Master Plan. The purpose of this document is to collate improvements and works to the course on a hole by hole basis. Like all plans they will be subject to changes over time based upon new ideas, funds available and course conditions.
We are now at a stage to present this plan to members for comment and consultation. Early this week a copy of the draft plan will be sent to members and an information meeting will be held on Tuesday 6th of February at 5:00pm. I expect it will go for around an hour.
Let me know if you are able to attend by emailing [email protected]. If you can't attend send me you comments to the same email.
On October 4th 2023 we started a trial of playing in fours to the end of January 2024. This change was driven by a number of requests by members and being able to accomodate visitors who typically play in fours. Some members contacted me with their concerns about the additional time for a round. Our aim is to increase fields over time and maximise the revenue to the club.
To analyse the round times I have used the January monthly medals for both 2023 and 2024, which had similar filed numbers in the mid 90's. The data is from the records in MiClub.
The results are:
January 2023 - Average time 3:57 (hrs/mins) with minimum 3:16 and maximum 4:25
January 2024 - Average time 4:18 (hrs/min) with minimum 3:35 and maximum 4:49
Around about a 20 minute increase for the stroke round.
We will continue to play in fours but I welcome you feedback, positive and negative, via email to [email protected]
Today was the first round of the White Horse Cup for 2024. The course was in great condition and a big thanks to Craig and Paul who manned the BBQ on the 10th tee, much appreciated.
Bowral has two teams in the pennants competition and both had draws today. There were 4 draws today which is quite unusual. All the best to both teams and looking forward to the wins.
