February 03rd, 2015 - Presenation Night (UPDATED) - White Horse Cup  -  4 hole comp - Don't try this at home - Course Improvement fund Target Exceeded

3/2/2015

The Trophy Presentation Dinner is on Saturday 14th Febuary 6:30 for 7pm. The format will be similar to last year but this year we will acknowledge and call up the winner and winning teams to be presented with the appropiate trophy and the runners up will be acknowledged. This should result is a more streamlined evening. Last years format was very well received. Click here (it's been updated) to see those that have won free admission to the presentation night. Please note that the A, B and C grade winners each receive 2 dinner entries - all other winners and runners-up receive 1. As noted prizes from Legacy Day, RPEYC, St Andrews Day and Whales Tooth have already been awarded at separate events.

We reached and have now exceeded our target thanks to the generous donations of our members. Some donations came from people that don't even play golf. Money was received  from 36 donors.

The first two contracts have been let. For the new bridge on the first the succesful bidder was AJM Landscaping & Bricklaying who will be starting next week (weather permitting). The new bridge will be constructed slightly to the left of the existing bridge and will have a carriage way 2.4 metres wide.  Ultimately the side of the bridge will have a facade of stonework over the structural core filled with concrete blockwork which forms the side of the bridge.

Aquaman Irrigation will be extending of the irrigation on the 16th which will enable extending the fairway on the 3rd (The irrigation of the 16th irrigates the 3rd in the section thatt we want returned to fairway. This will enable the existing path to be removed once the fairway has grown. Where there is a masonry bridge on the 3rd this will be removed and a concrete causeway made through the hazard. That small section of hazard on the 3rd (where the existing bridge is) will be converted to an ephemeral waterway

The first White Horse Cup
pennant match were held on the weekend

TEAM 1 David Boyd has lodged with the captain results of Bowral 2 on Sunday. I was hoping to avoid doing this for Bowral 1, however I don’t want to appear we are running away from the result. As explained on the day it is easy to be a winner, however it takes character to lose in style. That’s where we are, full of character and style, following our 5/1 loss to Jamberoo at Wollongong. Without going into full scores, suffice to say the Don Barker was the “glowing ray of sunshine” with the only win. Although by reports, none of us played that bad, however we had to give all of Jamberoo 2-3 shots and they didn’t miss a shot all day.
I wish to thank the team, as we had a great day out.
Next Sunday is the bye at home, so if any of you can give me a hand from about 7.00am at the club, it would be most appreciated.
Please let me know.
Paul Carroll

TEAM 2 lost our match today against Port Kembla at Nowra 4 matches to 2. Keeping in mind Port Kembla was runner up in 2014 and won the Cup in 2013 it was a good effort by our guys, especially Paul and Jim..
Paul Pettiford won 1 up
Dave Burgess lost 7/5
Jim Phillips won 4/3
David Boyd lost 4/3
Alan Turpie lost 3/2
David Mathers lost 2/1.

Next week we play Highlands at Shoalhaven Heads where our team will be Pascal Timores, Alan Turpie, Bob Young, Bruce Farankand, Terry Downing and David Boyd.

Regards, David Boyd
