Club Championships and more...

11/10/2021

COVID-19 update
With the Club House now open under the NSW Health guidelines we are back to enjoying some level of socialisation.  Please remember to bring your face mask and wear it in the club house when you're not eating or drinking. Also, the QR code registration is still required.  Finally, remember to have your proof of double vaccination on you.  Enjoy...

Recent Results...

It's all happening with the qualifying rounds and other trophy events.

J W Draper Final
Last Wednesday the final of this handicapped match play event was finally played, some months later than planned.  As expected with this format, it came down to the wire and John McGuire and Pat Donoghue won "one up" over Alec Dietsch and Jim Larkin.

Lowest Round...
Last Saturday the contemporary lowest round was set by David Ferguson with a gross 68/nett 68 round. Great result sealed with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes.

Winter Eclectic
The winner this season was John Buchanan followed closely by the runner up Paul Carroll.  Paul just missed the birdie on the 8th hole which would have got him across the line. Summer Eclectic sign up sheet is in the Club House opposite the score card scanner, sign up, be in it to win it!!!!

Lifestyle Cup Result
This years cup was the best nett result over the two Saturday stroke rounds. It was a close event and I'm pleased to report that Graham Oldfield won after a winning second round with a nett result of 145.  Runner up on a count back was Greg Segal.

Veterans Plate Result
The Index of Trophies, Events and Awards is a rather lager document and it refers to this event as one to keep the older players engaged... with the size of the field it certainly is doing that.
The results were very close this year, John Hopkins with two nett 67 rounds won the event closely followed by David McGinnes as runner up.

Watson Cup
This trophy event is over three rounds, the recent two Saturday qualifying rounds and next Saturday.  It is a Nett Stoke event with James Pinkstone currently in the lead with a "pack" of players close behind.

Wednesday Cock of the Walk 4BBB.
John Russell and Piero Dal Bianco won the day with 45 points on a count back from Tony Rourke and John Mellen.

Friday Nugget Nine
Another good field with 49 competitors.
With a great 27 points Meeghan Bourne won with Andrew Bova runner up with 25.
Saturday Stroke Round
With a great Nett score of 63 Kevin Bourke was a clear winner.  Runner up was Neil Landry with a Nett 65 on a count back.
A-Grade - James Pinkstone 65
B-Grade - Neil Landry 65 on a count back
C-Grade - Ian McKenzie 69

Sunday Medley Stableford
Jet Ostrer won with 39 on a count back from Emma Fernandez.

Club Championships...

The draws for the three are nearly finalised and will be posted on the Club House notice board. The schedule is as follows:
  • Quarter Finals to be played by the 24th of October
  • Semi Finals by the 31st of October
  • The finals on the Sunday 7th of November.
This year we will have the 2021 Presentation Night on November 13th following the result of the Championships. COVID regulations will limit number unfortunately.

Course Update...

Spring is with us with some variable weather conditions, some warmth and then back to winter conditions.  However, we are getting more run on the course and the greens are firm.  For the "big hitters" the burn on the 8th is coming into play from the tee. The upside is you can play out of the hazard... see below. I think it resulted in a par...
