Another great day was had by all. In fine crisp weather, we had a shotgun start at 10.00am for 27 players to compete in the 12 hole winter competition. It was a lot of fun and reportedly, a very noisy group, let everybody on the course know when they sank a putt, particularly on the 11th green. With the shot gun start it enables all of the members to get back to the clubhouse at the same time which adds to the atmosphere. Pam and Don Barker together with Darryl Chadwick did a great job on the BBQ with a complimentary sausages on a roll, together with Coleslaw and condiments, courtesy of the club, followed with sliced water melon for desert. Winners on the day were the loud group from the 11th which included Jan & Chris Deane and Leonie and the Captain. Runners up were Pam & Don Barker with Carole and Graham Warner. Our next Medley day is on Sunday 13th August and I encourage all members who would like to play golf in an informal format to register at the pro shop or online. This particularly applies to newer members who wish to become involved in the club. Jan and Chris Deane have volunteered to do the after BBQ. We look forward to seeing you all there.
What a great job dad's army have done in under the trees between the 5th and 12th fairways. Clearing out all the dead rubbish and mulching has added a new life to the space. These industrious gentlemen work tirelessly for the club each Thursday morning and tackle all the jobs that our ground staff can't get too in the normal course of the day. The club has many plans for improvements to the course from concrete paths to fairway extensions, planting of trees and general maintenance work which are all subject to time and money. Should you wish to add anything to the list, please advise and we will evaluate how it would fit into our program. No guarantees, however, your proposal will be given due consideration. Incidentally, you will notice the 18th bridge has been filled with concrete and once this covered with turf, should never move again. |
