- Autumn is traditionally the best weather in the Highlands for golf. The trees have started to colour several weeks ago and things look like being fantastic on the course over the next 3 months.
- A reminder to all players that the closely mown area of the croquet lawn is for chipping practice only. Please chip from the rough onto the closely mown area. If you wish to play full shots please use the area at the front near the drop-off where mats are provided if needed. The attached photo, taken last Saturday, shows a number of fresh divots at the rear area of the croquet lawn. Even worse is the fact that the divots were not repaired.
- In an effort to reduce the damage being caused by overflow water at the front of the 13th green, a new temporary drain has been excavated. This drain is marked with Red stakes and includes an area marked as GUR. It is located on the left-hand side of the 15th fairway beside the maintenance path about 80m from the green. In addition, the drain along the right-hand side of the 13th fairway has been extended to avoid the water buildup in front of the pond.
- The draw for the Arthur Brassey knockout competition has been posted on both the clubhouse and pro shop notice boards. It can also be found under the 'Major Events and Medals' tab under the 'Captain's Blog' tab of the club website.
- Next Saturday is the March Monthly Medal. A presentation will follow after the completion of the competition.
- The Greens' renovations commence next Monday (8th March) and will be completed the following day. A small working bee has been arranged to apply the finishing touches to the bunkers. The bee will commence at 07:30 at the 11th green. If you wish to attend, please advise the Captain at [email protected] Spade/rake and shovel only required. The work should be completed by 09:30.
- St Patrick's Day (17th March) falls on a Wednesday, so there will be an Irish 4 Ball competition on the day. The format means that the two best Stableford scores on each hole only are added to the aggregate score. Any donors of a bottle of Irish Whiskey would be greatly appreciated, contact the office or the Captain.
- The Warwick Armstrong Cup (Single Stableford) competition is scheduled for the 20th March.
- The Patron's Trophy is scheduled for play on the 27th March. This event forms the qualification round for the Club Foursomes Championship knockout.

Assistant Manager
Don Barker kindly provided the following report on the progress of the 2 BGC teams in this year's event.
On Sunday 28-2-21 Bowral 1 vs Shoalhaven 2 at Shoalhaven Heads, resulted in a draw of 3-1/2 matches each, which earned each team 1 point.
This takes Bowral 1 to a total of 5 points and to third position behind Moss Vale 1 and The Grange after completion of the preliminary rounds.
Moss Vale 1 is in first position and automatically goes forward to the quarter finals.
Bowral 1 must now defeat The Grange in a playoff next week at Jamberoo Golf Club in order to progress to the quarter final against Moss Vale 2.
Also on 28-2-21 Bowral 2 vs Shoalhaven Heads 1 on their home course, resulting in a loss by Bowral 2 – 2 matches to 5.
This placed Bowral 2 fourth on the leaderboard and as such they fail to go on to the finals.
A good effort but not quite good enough !!
Regards Don
