With the ever increasing need to keep the field moving and the demands this places on some of our older members, we plan to introduce several new time slots. The last three time slots at the end of the morning competition and before visitors, will be allocated, so that those members who would like to play in a more leisurely round of the Wednesday and Saturday Competitions, can do so without pressure. All members should be allowed to enjoy their golf experience without the need to rush, which effects all our golf. These slots can also be used for new members looking to practice, before entering the regular field. This initiative has only been introduced, so we can all enjoy this great game of golf in a time frame suitable to all of us.
A new waterway has been formed around the back of the 10th green and down the side of the 11th tee to protect the Fairways properties from future flooding. The "Out of bounds " markers have been replaced at the back of the 10th green, in front of the drain. Members please note. The draw for the John Owens 4 Ball Knockout is on the Notice Board in the Pro Shop and the Club House. The first round needs to be played by 17/07/16 with the quarter finals by 24/07/16. Would all players please note the Conditions of Competition and adhere to the time frame. Please play your games earlier rather than later to avoid any requests for extensions. Good luck to all teams.
After two delayed starts, due to inclement weather, the second round of the Mixed Foursomes Championship and Wotton Trophy, were played on Sunday in perfect conditions. With a great field of 32 players, Anne Geddes & Damian Gair reversed their fortunes from last year, winning the Championship with a gross of 177 over the two rounds, from Helen Chadwick & Alex Mulholland with a gross of 179. The Wotton Trophy, for the best net score went to Pam & Don Barker with a net of 147 from Leah & David Boyd, one shot behind, at 148. Don tells me it was the putt on the last green that won them the trophy. I am sure Pam had something to do with it along the way. Unfortunately Anne and Damian could not join us for the presentation, however, they were worthy winners. Congratulations go to all winners and better luck next year for the rest, including myself. Now that their appears to be a demand and with our new chef's assistance, we will look at starting the event earlier next year and incorporate a few drinks and snacks, so we can enjoy the fellowship for longer, at the end of the day. |
