Kevin Kenny donated an article concerning a gentleman in England who is 94 years young and has been a member of his club for 82 years. A great effort, put down to the fact he plays golf 3 days a week. The article makes interesting reading.
http://www.golfclubmanagement.net/2016/06/this-man-has-been-a-member-of-his-golf-club-for-more-than-82-years/ Ground staff ably assisted by Dad's army have started the clean up after the recorded 284mm of rain we got over the weekend. Even after major flooding of the course, the waters receded quickly and left the course without any severe damage.Depending on how the staff go next week, they may need further assistance with a general working bee on Friday. We will make the call early next week and if it goes ahead and you can assist, we would be most appreciative Unfortunately, the course has been closed for this weekend, due to the large volume of rain, which has already fallen and the expected deluge, forecast to fall in the next 48 hours. In order to avoid as much disruption as possible, due to the coming long weekend, the men's Medal round has been altered to 18th June and the second round of the Mixed Foursomes Championship and Wotton Trophy until the 19th June. Whilst this is unavoidable, we are an outside sport, reliant on the weather for our playing conditions. However, all is not lost. If you are like me, now looking for something to do, why not join me for lunch at the club at noon for the extendable long table Captains lunch, where we can lament over a bottle of red and drown our sorrows. See you at 12.00. |
