| The final of the Foursomes Championship for the Tom McKay trophy, was played yesterday (Sunday) in reasonably good weather although a little wet under foot. The combatants, Alec Dietsch and Damian Gair took on Sam and John Mulholland for a 36 hole endurance test for this coveted trophy. After hitting off at 7.00am both pairs were evenly matched with the scoring finely balanced with both teams even after 18 holes. A quick coffee break and they were at it again for the next 18. After another 9 holes, Alec and Damian were 2 up at the turn and went on with a solid performance to finish 5 up with 4 to go. The game was played in great spirit and the Sam and John were gracious in defeat. Well done to both teams and a thank you to Jim Larkin for sharing the referee's duties. |
