Although not normal practice, I wish to advise all members of the results of last Saturday's Monthly Medal. All results sheets are available on this site however, the winners are worthy of a special mention. David Ferguson, son of John Ferguson off a handicap of 1, won the "A" Grade medal with a net 70 on a count back from Trent Wheeler, handicap 7. John Oakes, a new member from Gibraltar, off a handicap of 20, won the "B" Grade Medal with a net 68 points from runner up Eddie Jones with 71 and "C" Grade medal winner, Jamie O'Reilly, grandson of Bob Constable, off a handicap of 24 with a net 69 won from runner up Chris Harvey with net 75. Unfortunately all were earlier players and were not available for the presentation of the Medal and a Whiskey Glass as a memento of the occasion. However, Glasses and Medals have been left with the Bar staff for collection at a later date.Congratulations to all winners. Now the rain has eased there were 69 players in the field, however there were a total of 150 players on the course for the day. Come on fine weather.
Although I thought that I had already advised members, the signup sheet and Conditions of Competition are in the pro-shop for the J.W. Draper Handicap Stroke Foursomes Match play with entries to close this Wednesday. Due to my oversight, I will extend the closing date for entries until Wednesday 12th April 2017 to allow all members who wish to register, the chance of joining this competition. This is a handicap event and because of that, it can be won by any of the contestants, even you. I encourage you to join a qualified partner, and register your names at the Pro shop for the competition. You will have to hit the ball from places on the course you have never hit before. Don't be intimidated that you haven't played foursomes or Match Play before, as the games are all played in good spirit and I am sure you will enjoy the experience.
![]() On Sunday 48 loyal members attended a trivia afternoon at the club. Following an excellent buffet lunch provided by external caterers, Centennial Winery Restaurant, we invited our guest presenter, local artist Dave Thomas, to take control. Little did we know (or some did) that the presenter, was not only an awesome compere and Trivia Master, he was a very talented comedian, singer and story teller. The questions asked were wide and varied and delivered with humor and timing, which kept the audience enthralled throughout the afternoon. Dave put in a fabulous effort and many hours of homework to allow such a professional afternoon of entertainment and did so as a generous gesture. In order to support Dave, he was requested to bring a painting he had completed for auction, which was purchased by our very generous, President, Kevin Burke. The winners on the day were all our members who were there as it was a fun filled day and we are already looking forward to the next event. Dave is an avid golfer and we will work on him to join our club. A big thank you to all those who turned out last Friday to assist with the mowing and Whipper Snipping of the course. Damian and his crew are under great pressure to bring the course back to it's usual perfect condition after the deluge of rain we have had during March. Any support they get is most appreciated. They are well on the way to recovery however it will take time and your patience is most appreciated. Damian is optimistic that we can allow carts on Wednesday provided there is no more heavy rain. Let's hope so as I would love to see you all back on the course as soon as possible.
