2023... off to a good start.

23/1/2023

Course Update...

Golf Carts
The restriction of "Golf Carts only in the rough" has been lifted for all members, guests and visitors. This will mean golf carts are "free" to drive on the fairways and the rough. This should speed up play for cart players, make access to their golf ball easier and allow players to repair their divots more easily with the sand buckets in the carts.
If the course conditions get wet the Pro-Shop will advise where carts will be required to go as well as roped off areas and signs on the course.

Bunker Rakes
Following a request by a member who had a difficulty playing a shot from one of the bunkers due to the rake stopping the ball from rolling to the flat area;  we have adopted the  advice from the USGA , click here
for details.
Bunker Rakes will be located outside the bunkers and will need to be replaced back to the marked position, see photos below.

Preferred Lies - 30cm
Due to the storms softening up the course we have reintroduced preferred lies for the general area of the course. We will monitor the course condition and inform you when this changes.

White Horse Cup.... is it BGC's year???

It feels like it has been decades that we have been trying to win the White Horse Cup and it probably has.  This Golf Illawarra Pennant event started in 1934 and is a handicapped match play competition.  This year the Terms of Competition is more inclusive allowing Golf Pros and women can play, a positive move.
Yesterday, in typical weather conditions for the White Horse (wet & cold for summer) the Bowral squad consisting of two teams, played a trial match just to get "into the swing". Despite the conditions most matches were very close. The photo below are those representatives that could make the day.  Best of luck through February and hopefully well into March.

BGC has been invited to join this pennants competition for the Illawarra region.  I think this will be very popular and a great opportunity for our club.  What I need are some willing hands to get this started and the application in by March.  If you are keen to help please get in touch... text or call me on 0448 839 840.

Play well.
