Kylie left us a couple of weeks ago with all of our good wishes. We collected a substantial amount for a present of vouchers at Target and Big W.

Weather conditions for the coming week look excellent for golf with temperatures returning to the high teens and low 20s. Now we have dryer conditions our wet weather course will be out of play for a period.
The UK's National Health Service concluded golfers live longer. This is an extract from a UK magazine that shows we are on the right track for longevity.
An NHS campaign to tackle obesity is calling on families and middle-aged adults to take up golf in order to live a healthier lifestyle.
Change4Life, a UK organisation, which has aimed to help people make improvements to their diet, activity levels and alcohol consumptions since 2009 via social marketing campaigns, has become a national partner with the England Golf Partnership’s ‘Get into Golf’ programme, which offers low cost taster sessions and beginner courses across the country.
An NHS spokesman for Change4Life said: “Golf is a great game, whatever your age, background or ability. And, as well as enjoying a healthy dose of fresh air and nature, playing golf can bring some impressive health and wellbeing benefits. It can burn calories, lower cholesterol and may even help you live longer – golfers survive an average of five more years than the rest of the population.”
Tim McKinnon & Peter Nelson with the Challenge Cup
The Bruce Smith Cup encounter Saturday was played in absolutely superb conditions at Moss Vale Golf Club. This was a return match following a draw earlier in the year at Bowral. The course was in great condition with lush fairways a standout. The greens had recently undergone a light renovation using a Verti Drain. (We don't have a Verti Drain but the plan is to acquire one - at a recent course supervisors meeting Verti Drains made the top of the "most wanted" list.) Ian & I played against Tim McKinnon and Peter Nelson - they were another of Moss Vale's winning team with a 44 point BB score. Tim is standing for Moss Vale's Vice President this year and Peter, a past captain, is standing for the board and is chairman of their greens committee. It was a very enjoyable day, perhaps, from our side, slightly compromised by our substandard attempt. Moss Vale's hospitality was well received by our team. The Challenge Cup AKA The Bruce Smith Cup has been played between the clubs since 1938. Moss Vale's name figures prominently on the trophy and their 8-2 victory this year continued that trend. The contest was very well supported - BGC put forward 10 teams of 2. Keith Markwell & David Burgess and Brian Hanrahan & David Mathers were the Bowral team who could hold their heads high.
Not fully confident of my ability to loft a chip a spectator decides for safety
BGC is now an agent for E-l-k Golf’s GT Lithium motorized golf buggy. They have a 24 month warranty on the buggy and battery. Lithium batteries are lighter than the more common lead acid gell-cell batteries so that makes them easier to handle when transferring buggy and clubs to the car for transport. Enquiries to the pro-shop please.
Material piled for later removal.
The pile of wood chips came from Bowral House as a result of some tree pruning and removal. We were fortunate to obtain the chips at no cost. When wood is first chipped it is quite acidic and not suitable for using around most plants that we have on the course. After some ‘seasonong’ we’ll be using it to top-dress at the plants around the tees etc.
Moss Vale Golf club has their AGM Monday night. David Prince is standing unopposed for President. David played at our course recently on an open day with a big group organised by Keith Markwell. David also played in their Bruce Smith Cup team
